While you think about to install a new split type unit. You can consider the following things

- Which brand of the air con I want to buy, there are many in the market : 
Daikin air con, Hitachi air con, Panasonic aircon, General aircon, Gree, Media aircon, Carrier, York, Mitsubishi, Fuji ...  

Daikin air con, the design & factory doing a good job, that make their air con last for long time and easy to maintenance. The new R32 freon also product less pollution to the planet. The price is a bit higher than other unit. But it is good for our next generation and planet. We are happy with their product.

Hitachi Air con, the indoor unit are quite small and some of the outdoor fit in window stand, in this case, customer can indoor the unit on the window stand with out scaffold. Their product also durable. 

Panasonic Air con have a very nice design, the indoor looks beautiful and slim. The price is similar to haitichi, but the only bad news is , you can't buy the part from somewhere else, must be Panasonic side. 

Toshiba air con price is affordable, the outdoor unit work alright most of the time, but we have repaired more than ten indoor unit in this year. Mainly the sensor (indoor unit) was rusty/broken. Since Toshiba unit put the sensor part in the middle front of the indoor unit, a lot of the time the moisture damage the sensor part. We believe they can improve their design.

Gree air con is more affordable compare to the big brand (daikin / hitachi), the machine itself is easy to maintenance but the material / plastic they are using is not as good as other brand.

Our customer who live in deep water bay has request us to clean the air conditioner in his place. His air conditioner has the following problem,

The air con is a fan coil unit in the kitchen has been leaking water for few days, while we do the cleaning, we found the pipe stuck with dust and the coil is a bit oily because it is a ope kitchen and they switch on all the time.

What should I do for my air con during winter time ?  - Hong Kong

After the summer, you may think about how to keep your air conditioner in a good condition during the winter.  If your air con have heating and cooling function, than you can enjoy a warm room during cold weather. 

But if your air conditioner have only cooling function, you might not use it at all. You can clean all the air conditioner and leave it. After the proper cleaning, the duct and mold will not stuck inside the air con and grow. 

If you are not doing the proper cleaning, you can switch on the Fan mode every two weeks / after it rains for 30 mins. It helps the indoor unit stay dry.

We have received a request to clean and check the air con in Andrew's house in Sheung Wan. He explain the air con did not service/ clean since they move in - few months. Why my new air conditioner leaks - Improper Installation (Hong Kong/Sai Kung/Tuen Mun)

It could be the following issues,

- improper installation 

- broken pipe/ clogged drain

An incorrectly installation of drainage pipe can lead to water leaking from your air conditioner. 

While the technician install the indoor air con unit, they should be install in a way that the front end is slightly higher than the rear end > a difference of 1-inch is ideal. The water leaks problem usually cause when the difference is less than 1-inch.

Air con service Hong Kong - "Ice on your air conditioner"

If your air conditioner's airflow become less and less, and you found ice appear on your air conditioner. 

It might be the time to check your air con properly. 

There are few reason why your air conditioner freezes up after sometime you switch on the air con. It might cause leak while the ice is melting. It also mean the cool air will not be discharged properly and ice may built up on the coil parts.

1: restricted air flow might cause this problem 

2: Low refrigerant / leak of freon > this is the most common issue cause "Icy on the coil "

while the freon level in the air con system is low / leaks, there will be a decrease in the saturation point temperature of the system.
