We were requested by one of our valued customer to do the air con cleaning in her house in Sai Kung. It has installed nine (9) split type air con in total. Our team finished the cleaning of all nine air-con units in one working day. As they were split type air con system there was the indoor and outdoor units to be cleaned. 

We recommend to our customers to clean the indoor unit by a technician at least once a year. 

For the outdoor unit, we recommend them to be cleaned once every three year.

Renting property with air-con system in Hong Kong

We suggest that when leasing an apartment or house to tenant to check when was the last time the air con was serviced and cleaned. 

If the answer is that it was cleaned within last 6 months then that is okay but longer than that you should have the air con be cleaned and serviced either before tenant moving in.

The reasons for this suggestion are:

1. The health and well being of the tenant.
2. The life and operation of the air con.
3. The lower energy used and costs for the tenant.

Air con installation Part 2 (Hong Kong, mid-levels, Sai Kung, NT) - Pipe

Air conditioner installation - PIPE (gas pipe. water pipe)

Before you install the air con (split type, ceiling type) you may need to consider how the overflow pipe will be located/run before you make your decision. The cost of the installation could be very different depending on the overflow pipe. Depending on the positioning of the overflow pipe the time required to install could need few hours or up to few days to install.

Split / ceiling type air conditioner have two units, one indoor and one outdoor. There are three pipes connecting the indoor and outdoor unit together. Two are freon gas pipe and a water pipe.

Some customers would like to hide these pipes inside the wall, some will also use wood board to cover them.

There are few a methods to install the pipe,

1: Build in pipe / concealed piping  > looks nice and tidy but hard to repair
It means the pipe is hidden inside the wall, usually people do this while they are renovating their house. It is because it will take time to break the wall , put the pipe inside and cover it with plaster/other material and paint it.

2: Exposed pipe/wall mounted pipe > looks untidy but it is easy to take care and maintain.
Since the three pipes need to be mounted on the wall and connect to the outdoor unit, wall mounted pipe is the easy solution, it saves time and money.

3: Cover/hide the pipe inside wood/plaster board > looks fine and is easy to take care
Some customers want the pipe can to be easy to repair and the house to look nice, they will choose to use wood board to cover the pipe and paint it the same color of the wall.

How to find out the horsepower of your air conditioner?

A question you may ask and need to know "What is the horsepower of my air conditioner ?"

To find out the horsepower of your air conditioner, you can check the information label / model of your air con.

For window type A/C, you can find the model number near the control panel or sometime under the cover. If you find the model number and google it, you will most likely find the horsepower of your model.

For split type / Window split type A/C, the information label is stick on the indoor unit (also the outdoor). It is usually located at the left / right hand side of your air con. For general air con , you will  find it at the bottom of the indoor unit. The label lists the model of your air con, such as model number, BTU's.....

VRV air conditioner, you can find the information label at the outdoor unit/ machine.
