Before you install the air con (split type, ceiling type) you may need to consider how the overflow pipe will be located/run before you make your decision. The cost of the installation could be very different depending on the overflow pipe. Depending on the positioning of the overflow pipe the time required to install could need few hours or up to few days to install.
Split / ceiling type air conditioner have two units, one indoor and one outdoor. There are three pipes connecting the indoor and outdoor unit together. Two are freon gas pipe and a water pipe.
Some customers would like to hide these pipes inside the wall, some will also use wood board to cover them.
There are few a methods to install the pipe,
1: Build in pipe / concealed piping > looks nice and tidy but hard to repair
It means the pipe is hidden inside the wall, usually people do this while they are renovating their house. It is because it will take time to break the wall , put the pipe inside and cover it with plaster/other material and paint it.
2: Exposed pipe/wall mounted pipe > looks untidy but it is easy to take care and maintain.
Since the three pipes need to be mounted on the wall and connect to the outdoor unit, wall mounted pipe is the easy solution, it saves time and money.
3: Cover/hide the pipe inside wood/plaster board > looks fine and is easy to take care
Some customers want the pipe can to be easy to repair and the house to look nice, they will choose to use wood board to cover the pipe and paint it the same color of the wall.
