What is freon leaks mean?

Freon is the cooling agent used in lot of AC systems. Most of air conditioner system needs a refrigerant/coolant that creates cool air, this is the role of freon.

When your air conditioner do not blow cold air - only wind, it might be freon leaks or gone. Technician  will check the pressure of the air con to find out how much freon still inside the air con. They might suggest you to refill freon or sometime replace the air conditioner.

How to check a leaking air con unit - Hong Kong/ Sai Kung / Clear water bay

Summer is coming soon, our customer has request us to clean their air con before the summer start. Our team usually check the air con before we start cleaning the air con, such as the electricity, air con mode, swing, wind blow and temperature.

We found ice appear on the gas pipe after we take off the cover of the indoor unit. And our customer also said the air con has leaking problem before. 

There are two main issue cause water leaks 

 1: blocked pipe / drains - in this case, a proper cleaning with vacuum and powder will solve the problem. 

2: freon leaks - find out where it leaks and fix that area will solve the problem.

Landlords, when should I clean the air con? - air con cleaning Hong Kong 

We have a customer ask our team to clean the air conditioner as soon as her tenant move out. By asking the detail, we found she has the timber technicians come the day after. So we suggest her do the air con cleaning later. The reason is while they do the timber work or paint the dust will go inside the air con. So it seems not the good timing to do that. 

A lot of the time, when our tenant move away we will touch up / repair / fix the apartment before the next tenant move in. In this case, we increase our chance to get a better tenant and higher rent. 

So we usually check

- lock, ceiling, light, switch, carpet/tile/timer, window, leaks, tap, cabinet, stove, toilet.. 

For air con cleaning only(AC works), we can do that almost the last before the tenant move in. 

But if the air con is not working, then we should ask technician check it and see do we need to replace it or not. If yes, we should do this job before the painter come in. 

The reasons: 

- some air conditioner has build-in pipe, so Air con technician might need to drill the wall when they replace air con. 

- you might want to change a bigger or smaller air con, which will affect the wall

- you might want to change the position of the air con, so painter can touch up the existing area.

air con not producing cool air and remote not function - Sai Kung

Can we share remote with different air conditioners - Hong Kong , Sai Kung

We visited David who live in Sai Kung ,Po Lo Che. He told us his air con is not function well and not making cool air con.  

While we visit his place we found he is using one remote to control three air con. ( 1000 in 1 universal remote) The air con inside the bedroom both are Mitsubishi air con, and the one in the living room is Hitachi. As he said he can't turn on the air con by the remote, he will use the on off button/switch to turn on air con. This is one of the reason why the air con is not making cool air. 

1: Because this on/off button only turn on the air con at/on 24 degree. you CAN'T change the temperature. 

2: You can't change the MODE of the air con if you are not using the right channel. 

3:Sharing a remote control with two or more air con is not good, because the function/setting of one air con maybe not the same setting of the other air con. In this case the reception of the electricity broad of the air con will get confuse. And you will need to turn off the air con and turn on again to make all the function work.
